Lila was originally offered as part of the Dyesigner Alliance 2 yarn club. I was paired with Sincere Sheep. Based on the mood board I sent over, they dyed up this beautiful purple colorway, called Ube. I didn’t know it when we were paired together, but Sincere Sheep only uses natural dye. When I found out, I was floored! Their yarns are so bright and vibrant. I love natural dyes, they all have a certain magic to them, but the kind of magic Sincere Sheep casts is special.

When I was working on this design in the early spring of 2020, it was the very beginning of the corona virus pandemic. Outside of showing off the stunning color variations in Ube, I wanted to make something that wouldn’t be too complex or require constant vigilance, my mind was wandering often. Maybe you can relate?
I settled on a series of mesh and simple eyelet lace stitches to make a casual wrap with a bohemian vibe that would be perfect for fighting off early morning chills in the kitchen or late summer beach walks.
